I highly rate this adventure...but you can choose it! I went orginally for an arts and crafts day in the holidays, which was fantastic. My daughter and other families walked some trails to collect natural habitat, 4 clay art work at the end of the guided tour with all your gatherings. We were lucky enough to go up to the old homstead with our guides to collect the beautiful flowers, for our art. I was in ore of the heritage Vege garden. I truly dont think people umderstand how precious it is to us all, with the seeds, and vegetable seed heritage. They have so much on the adventure trails and walked (not as much as me), its fantastic!!! I looked up the history once I got home. Its mint. I will never drive Balcombe Rd the same without knowing and thinking about the history, resilience, determination, strength and struggle..but resilience was the way. I can't wait to go back and explore. Highly recomend. Small trails for the kids, if you like walking..pick a trail. Finally to the staff mostly my hosty ladies( who were incredibile, fantastico. Xoxo C u soon!
I began my walk on the Boardwalk near Mount Martha shops. Beautiful Wetlands, birdlife and scenery. I kept walking on the Boardwalk to the Briars. It's a lovely big property with old homestead and surrounding buildings. The homestead is closed but I took some great photos of the old carriages and farm machinery. I enjoyed the Woodland Walk in particular with interesting trees, informative signs, birdlife and pink wildflowers along the stream. I did see a Bandicoot which I've never seen before. Ice cream and coffee before I left at the Visitors Centre and walked back to town. A lovely walk and visit.
Gorgeous grounds with a few easy walking tracks. Check out the visitors centre and walk through the wetlands, then up the hill and around the homestead. The house/homestead is currently closed for renovations (April 2019) and it doesn't look like it'll be open for awhile but you can wander around the gardens and outbuildings there. Great picnic spot or visit one of the two cafe/restaurants on site.
The Briars is a great free adventure for families. Being a picnic and games and enjoy the natural surrounds. William Ricketts sculptures hidden around with amazing bay views. Wheelchair access is great for power wheelchair users or off road chairs as paths are grasses and gravel:stones.
Fabulous 3.2 km through the woodlands, swamp, on the boardwalk and tracks, interesting terrain, bird hide. Historic building beautifully restored on outside , unfortunatel nothing open. Excellent vegetable garden! Beautifully maintained everywhere 10/10 . Unfortunately Josephine’s, museum and historic buildings all closed, nonetheless a most enjoyable 2-3 hours with coffee and cake in the cafe garden
Excellent spot - the hill is a great walk, there's a nursery at the bottom and a cafe as well. Decent views, but the best bit is definitely the Briars walking tracks. Easy walks of a range of lengths.
The Briars is such a pretty venue to host a wedding. We were hired to offer our Bar/ Cocktails for a beautiful wedding at this wonderful venue and couldn't say enough. Such fantastic landscape and views. Go check it out! Kim
