Went to collect 2 giveaway plants, staff was very helpful to choose the plants I wanted.. Thanks BCC!
Based on the reviews I was keen to head to the nursery to get a couple of free plants for the garden. I think the idea of the giveaway is great, encouraging new gardeners to get planting, and yet the state of the place is going to be anything but helpful to gardeners with little experience. I was disappointed to see that most of the plants on offer were very unhealthy, many dying, and with plenty of weeds and moss in the pots, and I would be surprised if most of them actually survive once back in the garden of someone who isn't sure on how to nurse them back to health. The selection itself was okay, not huge, but still reasonable variety. The young man minding the nursery wasn't able to give the patrons much advice, I heard him say a couple of times that he's "still learning", which is fine, but unhelpful for those visitors who need help with growing advice or selection. If anyone from council reads this, I would implore you to take better care of the nursery, give the plants a weed, a feed, some soil wetter, and some mulch. It would be such a shame for a great idea to fail because of neglect. Also, all those gorgeous healthy plants that were sitting in the "staff only" section - maybe put some of those out for the Blacktown residents!
They do a great job providing plants for the community even with all the madness that has been happening of late (floods and covid).
Visited this place to collect free plant giveaway from Blacktown council. Lot of plant outdoor plants to choose from and few indoor options too. Staff is helpful. Ample parking available.
Went to the nursery to collect 2 plants last week, good selection, all looked good, staff helpful. Well down BCC.
A small place. Limited stock but probably you cant expect more. After all it is a Council nursery. It is a good initiative.
Wonderful experience. Easy to access site and the lady worker there was extremely helpful when selecting a plant.
