Salamanca Market is definitely a must-visit when you’re in Hobart. The atmosphere is very relaxed and full of local character, with the market set right by the waterfront, making it especially enjoyable on a nice day. There is a wide variety of stalls selling local produce, handmade crafts, honey, jams, and plenty of street food and coffee, many of which are proudly Tasmanian. I really enjoyed taking my time wandering around, chatting with stallholders and learning the stories behind their products. The food options are great as well, with fresh seafood, baked goods, and hot meals available. Overall, it feels more like a genuine local market than just a tourist attraction. I’d recommend allowing two to three hours, especially if you visit on a Saturday morning.

Outstanding market right in the CBD, fresh food stalls as well as food and snacks to eat. Seafood, meats and veggies from local artisans. We met the most pleasant people and Laura was fun. Must go to this market. One thing is that due to local legislation and insurance one can't bring dogs into the market, so don't blame the market it's a legal requirement. Go ready to eat and drink coffee. Awesome.

A must-visit place if you’re in Tasmania! As a traveler visiting Tasmania, I found this to be one of the best weekend markets I’ve ever been to. There are so many stalls offering a wide variety of food, local handmade products, and unique souvenirs. The market is lively, spacious, and full of energy, with street entertainment that makes the experience even more enjoyable. It’s also located near the famous Kelly Steps, so don’t forget to explore that area too. Highly recommended—definitely worth a visit!

Salamanca Market, Hobart One of the best markets I’ve been to. Huge variety of things — food, art, local products, produce, you name it. You need at least 2 hours to really see it properly. It’s very well organised and easy to get around despite the size. Definitely try the bratwurst place. We had a great time. It does get extremely crowded, which is expected, and it only runs on Saturday mornings, so definitely plan ahead. Totally worth it.

Great local market for locals and popular for visitors as well. Not only it houses groceries, it also has bakery and famous local 'Tassal' fish shop. Complimented with array of shops filled with local artists, gallery and pubs. It is definitely one of heart offering that Hobart has to offer.

Great outdoor market. So call largest outdoor market in the Southern Hemisphere! There is all kinds food vendors, handcrafts, coffee shops, clothing, and many other! There are many corner for street performers to play, some are amateur, some are professional. It’s a fun place to spend a Saturday, but the market will close at 3:00 PM. So don’t be too late!
