Came to Murnong First People's Gathering Place yesterday to visit the Koorie Market. A fantastic group of people, stall holders and community members. Overall this beautiful place has such a welcoming and inviting presence ✨️ Would recommend to anyone coming through in the area !
Wonderful gallery space! Named by Aunty Kim Wandin, it features beautiful works in the exhibition space and a mini shop. The gallery also backs onto the lovely Wominjeka Reconciliation Garden, which is also worth a visit. Thank you Chris and Glenn for the tour today!
Extremely beautiful art and culture, as a Noongar from Yuat country I felt safe coming into this space. Glenn is very kind and informative to those who came asking questions. The Garden is nice and peaceful and with the added VACCA space for children I believe this will be such a fantastic and safe place for our people.
A memorable visit to the gallery. Explanations from Glenn Loughrey, Russell and Lyn Shiells helped further my understanding of indigenous art and spirituality. A visit to the native garden and church, the latter with its modern stained glass additions, both helped make it a special experience! Thank you all, Anna and Geoff
It's still in it's infancy and the plants which provide nutrients to the indigenous people have yet to identified and labeled. But it's a start and a good educational tool for students that visit.
Blessed to be at the launch of this gallery and remain a big fan of Chris Joy and all that she does. What a stunning curator of heads, hearts and hands....evocatively captured in the many canvases but also within the space itself.
