Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne

Beautiful garden, amazing variety of native plants everywhere you look. The neatest and most well organized garden I’ve seen so far. Footpaths for long or short walks according to your liking, benches to enjoy the environment, area for picnic, clean facilities, cafe, gorgeous giftshop. All you need for a lovely afternoon out with friends or family. We’ll be coming back in spring to see even more flowers in bloom.

Amazing gardens! I can't believe there is no entry fee. The upkeep of this place must take many hands. We just saw 2 3rds of the the Australian garden in a little over 2 hours. Beautiful Australian flora. Love how there are various examples of garden design using Australian flors So good if you're looking to plant more Aussie plants in your own home garden. We saw 3 bandicoots and plentiful birds. Highly recommend this place. Cafe food is good to.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – Absolutely Wonderful Experience Cranbourne Botanic Gardens completely exceeded my expectations. I loved every moment of my visit. The Dry River Bed was in full bloom. The garden showcases an incredible variety of Australian native plants and the whole site has a special air of peacefulness that’s hard to describe. Wildlife spotting was a real highlight. I watched New Holland Honeyeaters feeding, heard Sacred Kingfishers calling, and even saw Bandicoots rustling through the undergrowth. The wider grounds are extensive and absolutely worth exploring—on one walk I was lucky enough to see a Tawny Frogmouth with its young! Bring binoculars! Some of the track signage could be clearer, but honestly, that’s easily forgiven given how wonderful the overall experience was. I loved it so much I went back twice. Getting there was straightforward: I caught the train from South Yarra in central Melbourne, then an Uber to the gardens. On the return trip, I used the shuttle bus back to Cranbourne —just be sure to book it in advance. I rang them when I couldn't book the shuttle online and they were very helpful. Highly recommended for nature lovers, gardeners, photographers, and anyone who enjoys peaceful, beautiful spaces. Entry to the gardens is free.

Enjoyable place to visit. Nicely laid out and good gardens to view. Very hot day but great play area available 10 minutes down a woodland trail.

It was a great place to visit walk, family friendly. I went there with friends, it has options on the gardens and walks which you wanna go. We can see a wallaby and a tawny frog mouth bird, so cool! The entrance is free, you can take the bus if you don’t feel like walking by paying 15$ for adult, seniors, children and concession pay less. You can have a picnic as well here.

I love these gardens and highly recommend them. If it's your first time there, the bus tour (around 30 mins) is worth going on both to get a feel for the layout of the gardens and also to learn something about the different areas. The main area is easy to access - a short walk up a gentle slope - path is gravel or sealed - and main building has stairs, ramp and a lift to get down to the garden level. The "bus" for the tour is like a long golf cart style - worth booking to ensure you get on, especially if travelling with a group. Our driver was great with info about everything from the history of the gardens to different plants to the resident tiger snake! Cafe staff were very friendly and welcoming. Coffee hit the spot! Look forward to visiting again. 😊

I have been to the gardens many times over the years and each time I go they have opened up another area with another group of plants. I had ordered a mobility scooter to drive around and it was very well looked after I returned it at lunch time and I could have had it again after lunch but we were just sitting talking amongst ourselves had a look around the shop a purchased a plant that will look nice in my garden we had lunch in the restaurant the food was exceptional but a little bit pricey.. all in all you have to enjoy your day for it costs nothing to get in, Entry was Free And it Costs Nothing to Hire the Scooter.
