Bunnings Ashfield

Came here specifically to get stuff for balcony gardening, and honestly, it had everything I needed. The greenhouse area has tons of easy-to-grow veggies, herbs, and flowers — great variety. The first time I came, I bought several bags of potting mix from inside the store (they were all 10–15kg). On my second visit, I realized the greenhouse area had larger and more affordable options, so I ended up getting 50kg of soil. Staff were super friendly! There’s also a gardening expert in the greenhouse area, but he’s not always around.

Shout out to the girl on the returns desk last night - my house key snapped in the door and she was able to cut a new key from it even though it was broken. Saved us a whole lot of time and hassle (and money) that an after-hours locksmith would’ve been. Thank you!

This place usually has what I am looking for, but you're best off looking for it yourself. Twice I have been authoritatively told by staff members that what I was describing (common items for restoring stone surfaces) definitely do not exist. Both times the staff member seemed irritated when I tried explaining what the item is for to give more context. Knowing these items do exist, I end up finding them myself, but not before wandering around the inexplicably organised aisles for half an hour. I wish staff members would just say they don't know when they don't, instead of acting like I've just asked them for something absolutely absurd that's never existed ever.

Shout out to Dominic on the paint counter at Ashfield today. He gave a lot of advice, was respectful and completely non patronising re my non existent paint/diy knowledge! Cheers Dominic for your professionalism and expertise. Much appreciated.

Ellie in the paint department is fantastic. 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and she is happy, engaged and serving customers like it’s her own business. Nothing was too hard, didn’t matter if you were buying a sample pot or a $200 tin. She had about four customers on the go, matching colours, mixing paints and suggesting brush types. She knows her stuff! Yes Ellie was doing her job but wow, it has been along time since I have seen customer service like that and it was such a pleasure to see a young lady enjoying her job. Employee of the year for sure!

Bad, unfriendly, and unhelpful service from the older man at the drill counter. I asked very politely because I don’t have much knowledge about the products — it was just a simple question. Not everyone knows everything about equipment, and that’s why customers ask for help. You don’t need to be as polite as a five-star hotel, but basic kindness and a friendly attitude are expected when you’re working there.

Prompt click and collect, got really faint once I got in the store, attendant was incredibly proactive at getting me a chair and a bottle of cold water, very focused on checking if I needed anything else, and then checked in with me when I felt safe to leave the store. Very grateful for such quick action and kindness
