Vergola

📍 Deck builder in Adelaide

4.6

Vergola, based in Adelaide, specializes in designing and installing opening louvred roof systems, offering a practical solution for outdoor spaces. Their use of galvanised steel ensures durability and strength, particularly suitable for non-coastal areas. The automated rain-sensing feature allows louvres to adjust swiftly to weather changes, providing versatile shade and light control.

While the installation process can be lengthy, partly due to council approvals, the end result is well-worth the wait. Vergola's team ensures smooth construction and offers expert recommendations for extras like lights and fans. However, customer service can be inconsistent, with reports of delayed responses and poor communication. The after-sales service is noted to be outstanding, offering continued support.

We recently had a Vergola installed at our home and we couldn’t be happier with the end result, even though it was a long process. I considered two other companies and am happy I went with Vergola. From start to finish, it took about a year — with around 6 months to get council approval, and then about 4 months for Vergola to complete the job once we had the green light. The council approval was impacted by decking plans (out of scope for Vergola). I didn’t mind the wait and the end result was well worth it. The team made sure everything ran smoothly once construction started. Other companies offered aluminum and I’m happy with steel that Vergola offered. Maybe if I was near the coast I would go aluminum but steel is stronger. Heat build up was a concern but colour choice influences that more than material type (I went surf mist). It was also easy to get recommendations on extras such as lights and outdoor fans installed at a good price. The opening louvred roof gives us full control — we can open it up to enjoy the sun or close it for shade and it automatically closes if it rains. If you’re thinking about investing in an opening roof system, I highly recommend Vergola — just be prepared that the process can take some time, especially with council approvals.

I had 3 interactions with this company via initial email, subsequent telephone call and an in person quote. My experience with each interaction was underwhelming. The email went unanswered and when I enquired about a response via telephone, the woman who answered the telephone was rude. When a representative attended to measure the site in anticipation of providing a quote, I did not receive one or any form of follow up. In good conscience, I could not recommend this company for their customer service but as I did not follow up any further with them, I cannot review their product.

A 1 service from Vergola. The salesperson was professional and very helpful and the workman was very quick in erecting our Vergola and he did a very professional job. I love our Vergola as it serves it's purpose and it has transformed our outside living area. Got to Love Vergola ❤️

We have a north-facing 6m x 6m deck that we just weren't using because of exposure to too much sun and no protection from the rain. We like the light coming into the house, but wanted to be able to control it on hot summer days. Our Vergola turned our deck into another living space. We still get all the winter light and warmth when we want it but we can also use the deck on the hottest summer days. We love the automatic rain sensing - it closes the louvers very quickly and then opens them again once the roof has dried. It even seems to automatically jiggle the louvers to help speed run off. Clever!

Vergola is a South Australian company that produces a premium product. As such, it is not inexpensive. However, the quality and flexibility it offers in the way of light, sun and airflow is outstanding. The louvres automatically open and shut depending on the weather conditions. In addition the staff are very professional, offering assistance and advice when needed. Additionally, the after sales service is outstanding - which is not always the case unfortunately these days.

Still waiting for our Vergola despite a deposit paid last November. Poor poor customer service from the after contract signing, calls not returned, communication poor and promises not carried out . Lets hope they deliver a good product when we eventually get it and I can update this review.

Noting what seems like an overly harsh 1 start review, I I would like to share my experience dealing with Vergola for a job that was completed last week. Having decided I wanted an area of my backyard sheltered but without sacrificing natural light, motorised Louvres felt like a great idea. After doing my research I noticed that Vergola stood out from its competitors as it used galvanised steel and not aluminium. The Metallurgic properties of Steel over Aluminium (lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher strength) was what sold me to the Vergola Product. Vergola was sold to me as a premium product in its industry compared to the likes of Ferrari in the automotive world. The way the motorised louvres operate and the look of the roof certainly does look premium. Cutting to the chase, the workmanship from Andy the builder was very good and I could see work progressing quickly when I checked on progress via a daily basis. It took an extra day to complete because the factory had not finished making the louvres on the third day of assembly even though they had informed me that fabrication was completed and construction could therefore start. The major downside and the reason for the 3/5 stars were as already highlighted in other reviews; the long wait time of 6 months which only happened after pushing on my end, prompting to find out that the bulk of the work was done in the latter part of my 6 month wait. Plans were not sent to me, council approval not met due to poor and inaccurate drawings of the building site etc. I’d also be lying if I said the customer service was A+ with a customer first tone of voice and manner of communication with the office staff and sales rep. Through the conversations it was clear that the administration front of this company either lacks staff numbers or there is a degree of miscommunication behind the scenes that a customer would not expect from a proud premium company. After much thought, If I had to do it again, I would have gone with a custom builder to fulfil my requirements with a similar or completely different product which may or may not have costed me any different as long as the turnaround time was more reasonable than that which we had to wait. In summary, if 5 star customer service and organisation is not high on your requirement list nor do you mind waiting for half a year for a motorised louvres Pergola type product then I would recommend you give Vergola a call and request Andy for the construction work.
